About the role
Be among the first to see new donations, and help us make decisions about the artifacts in our care. The ideal volunteer for this role brings a passion for local history, strong knowledge of Issaquah and its history, expertise in museums, or all three.
A Collections Advisory Committee is a group of citizens who are passionate about the work of IHM and want to support us by participating in an advisory role. This committee will include 3–5 members who review and advise on IHM's collections activities. Each member will play an important role in deepening the connections between IHM, our community, and Issaquah's past.
Responsibilities include:
Attending quarterly meetings to review artifacts for acceptance or deaccession
Advising IHM’s decisions regarding those artifacts
Learning basic museum collections practices and ethics necessary (in role)
Expected commitment
Attendance at a quarterly meeting, plus pre-review of materials where applicable
Requirements
If new to IHM: Background check (18+); 2 professional or personal references (non-family). No museum collections experience is necessary, as you'll learn the basic concepts and ethics in role.
