Flexible during the week to perform maintenance and as-needed repairs. Rotating schedule with other Mechanics to provide pre-service inspections on days of operation (weekends, May through September).

By combining technical expertise with a rigorous adherence to safety protocols, the Trolley Mechanic ensures that the trolley and power car remain reliable for the crew and safe for the public. Responsibilities and duties include:
Performs a detailed mechanical walkthrough of the trolley and power car one hour before the first run.
Tests and confirms the functionality of critical equipment, including air brakes, whistles, horns, and electrical systems.
Participates in "sweep trips" of the entire line to confirm the tracks are clear and safe for passenger service.
Diagnoses and repairs mechanical issues or equipment malfunctions.
Monitors the power car to ensure consistent electricity is delivered to the trolley's motors.
Logs all maintenance actions and provides formal clearance for the vehicle to enter service.
About the role
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and inspect mechanical systems, electrical connections, and pneumatic components.
- Meticulous approach to following safety checklists and manufacturer instructions for specialized parts.
- Capable of performing physical inspections on and under historic equipment.
